Admitted Undergraduate Student Checklist

Step-by-Step Guide to Completing Your Enrollment at Roosevelt

Congratulations on your admission to Roosevelt University!


Accept Admission & Pay Deposit

Your first step is to accept your admission by paying the $200 admission deposit. The $200 deposit will be applied toward tuition costs for the first semester enrolled. Read more about the admission deposit.


RU Access & Roosevelt Student Email

To pay your admission deposit online, check your financial aid package, and submit your housing contract, you will need to login to RU Access with your 9-digit Roosevelt ID number that is listed on your admission letter. If you need your ID number, please contact the Office of Admission at 877-APPLY RU or applyru@roosevelt.edu

Login to your Roosevelt student email account to receive pertinent information during the admission process.  Email is an official communication mechanism of the university and is used frequently by faculty and staff to share important information.


Financial Aid Application

Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) . Roosevelt's school code is 001749. Apply as soon as possible for maximum aid.  Read more about financial aid 


Housing Application (Chicago Campus only)

Planning to live on campus? Complete the housing application/contract on RU Access and submit the $500 housing prepayment to reserve your room: instructions on how to submit contract and prepayment.  

  • The spring semester priority deadline is December 1 to guarantee housing for students starting in the spring.
  • The fall semester priority deadline is May 1 to guarantee housing for students starting in the fall.

Visit Roosevelt

If you haven't already done so, we encourage you to visit campus. Arrange a campus visit and check out a schedule of events


English & Math Placement

If you are required to take the Roosevelt University Assessment (RUA), you must complete before registering for classes. Read more about placement and the RUA. 


Attend SOAR & Register for Classes

Sign up to attend a Starting Out at Roosevelt (SOAR) program.  You will meet with with an academic advisor who will help you select your classes, talk with a financial aid counselor, and meet with a student accounts representative.  Parents and family are welcome to attend.  Visit http://startru.eventbrite.com to sign up for a SOAR program.  New freshmen are required to attend a SOAR program.

Pay Your Tuition

Visit the Student Accounts website to learn about payment options.  Bills are emailed to Roosevelt student email accounts.  If you need help understanding your student account, please call us at 312-341-3570 in Chicago or 847-619-7974 in Schaumburg.  Payment arrangements for the fall semester are due by July 31 and by December 15 for the spring semester.

You will receive an invitation on your Roosevelt student email to join the Roosevelt on Facebook community.  This is a Facebook app exclusively for new Roosevelt students.  Watch your email for the invitation and join the discussion!


Attend New Student Orientation

Chicago Students

You will attend New Student Orientation (NSO) before the beginning of fall classes. All students are required to participate in this program. For more information about Chicago NSO, visit the Center for Student Involvement website.

Schaumburg Sudents

Health Insurance & Immunization

New students are required to submit an immunization record.  Students living on campus are required to have health insurance.  Read more about immunization and health insurance policies.


Obtain a Roosevelt ID Card

Get your Roosevelt ID Card so you can check out books from the library, attend student activities, use computer labs, and much more. Read more about your Roosevelt ID card.


Final School Transcripts

If you have not done so already, you must submit final copies of official transcript(s) from all educational institutions that you have previously attended. This is necessary to complete your admission file. If you are currently enrolled in classes at another institution, arrange now to have an official copy of your final transcripts sent to Roosevelt, after your final grades are posted.
