Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP)

To support students with outstanding academic ability, Roosevelt University encourages participation in the College Entrance Examination Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) program. The University will grant credit toward graduation for any AP examination passed with a grade of 3 or higher, up to a limit of 30 credit hours. Students who complete AP exams through their high school must send official score reports to Roosevelt for evaluation.

Credits are evaluated in all subjects as follows:

Score of 3 (out of 5): students earn 3 college credits in that subject
Score of 4 or 5: students earn 6 college credits in that subject with the exception of English composition, mathematics and psychology.

Example: for English AP (literature and composition or language and composition), students who receive a score of 3 will earn 3 credits for English 101. Scores of 4 or 5 will be equal to 3 credits for English 101, plus 3 credits for an English elective. Students can not earn credit for English 102 through AP.

Students may submit an International Baccalaureate diploma or course work in individual subjects for credit toward graduation.Students can only earn college credit by taking higher level examinations and earning appropriate scores as follows:

Score of 5 (out of 7): Students earn 3 college credits in that subject
