Favorite Chicagoland memory/experience

My favorite experience of being in the loop was getting to watch Transformers being filmed on Michigan Avenue, there were smashed cars everywhere- Bumblebee was tough! My favorite memory is agreeing to take a ride on the SPEED DOG boat of Navy Pier, not realizing I would end up soaked!

What makes Roosevelt unique/stand out from the other Chicago area colleges?

The diversity at Roosevelt makes for unique classroom experience. I appreciate that we do not sugar coat social issues we face as a community. Roosevelt opens the forum for dialogue for ideas and for social movement.

Favorite fun fact about Roosevelt

Did you know that Roosevelt University was among the first 21 higher- education institutions in Illinois to be honored in recognition of its leadership in college-campus sustainability.

Describe your role when it comes to helping students

The college process can be stressful when you realize all the information you need to know, all the decisions you have to make and honestly, a little scary when you realize that it will be a new world. I specifically work with students transferring from a community college to our campus.  My role is to make all the college lingo make sense.

I started my college career at Harper College and then transferred to Roosevelt to complete my degree.  As a first generation student I never forget that I did not reach my academic goals alone; I had great mentors along the way. I am always available to give the students I work with the same support I received from my admission counselor and mentors.

Favorite Chicagoland Restaurant

My favorite restaurant (hard to choose only one) has to be Nightwood in Pilsen. Their food comes fresh from local markets and farms. Also, Pleasant House Bakery, located in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.  They make their own Royal Pies and they have their own farm.  The best!

Favorite Neighborhood in Chicago

West Loop is my favorite Chicago neighborhood- People forget how much there is to see and experience in Chicago. West loop is like the middle ground where northsiders and southsiders can hang out.

Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, Cubs, Sox?

Sox fan all the way! Living in Bridgeport I could never betray. However not really a sports kind of girl I do however enjoy theatre. I love to follow small theatre companies that perform in intimate settings. If I had to pick a sport to watch, it would be ultimate fighting.
