Roosevelt University

Placement and the RUA

Who is required to take the Roosevelt University Assessment (RUA)?

Transfer Students: The English portion of the RUA is required for all transfer students. The math portion may be waived if you have transferable math appropriate for your degree. Prior to registering to take the RUA, please contact the Advising Center at advising@roosevelt.edu to see if the math requirement can be waived.

Freshman with ACT/SAT scores not received within the last two years: The English and math portions are both required so that you are placed in the appropriate level for each subject.

What does the RUA consist of?

The RUA is a computerized test in three sections - writing, reading and math. Most students complete the entire exam in less than two hours, but there is no time limit and you may take as much time as you need. Testing labs are open on a flexible schedule with individualized start times each week at both the Chicago and Schaumburg Campuses. There is no charge for taking the RUA.
