The internationally recognized British brass chamber group, Bones Apart, will visit the United States April 2-6, stopping at Roosevelt University for one show at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4.

The concert being held in Roosevelt’s 7th floor Ganz Hall, 430 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, is free and open to the public.

One of the world’s leading young chamber ensembles, the London trombone quartet includes four women – Becky Smith, Jayne Murrill, Helen Vollam and Lorna McDonald – all who have been committed to raising the profile of the trombone as a chamber music instrument.

Noted for the diversity of its recital program, which incorporates music of many styles and genres, including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Latin, jazz, popular and contemporary, Bones Apart has won a number of major awards including the Royal Over-Seas League Competition, the Rio Tinto Ensemble Prize and Miller Trophy.  Performing at major venues across the United Kingdom, as guest artists at many UK and international festivals, and featured on television, radio and in Muso Magazine, the group has a number of CDs, including Enigma, four4four and ten.

The concert is hosted by Roosevelt’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and will feature works from the group’s latest program “El Nuevo Mundo,” a compilation of music from the Spanish peninsula and the Americas that celebrates the discovery, history and diversity of these cultures.

The concert program includes: Three Spanish Renaissance Dances, Henry Purcell’s Overture from the Indian Queen, “Suite No. 1” from Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Variations on Annie Laurie by Arthur Pryor, Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair by Stephen Foster, Zequina de Abreu’s Tico Tico, Jacob Gade’s Jealousy, Three Piano Preludes by George Gershwin, My Funny Valentine by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, Such Sweet Thunder by Duke Ellington, Muerte del Angel by Astor Piazzolla and Scenes from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein.

After its Chicago recital appearance, Bones Apart will travel to New York and New Jersey for two more recitals.
