Stress Management Workshop Series Begins March 27th

Are you stressed out and can use some skills and guidance to help you finish strong this semester? We have the solution!

Please feel free to come out and learn how to cope with stress with the Counseling Center's Stress Management Workshop Series.
Five different workshops are listed below. You are welcome to attend one or all!

Stress Management and Time Management, Wednesday, March 27th
4:30-5:30pm in WB 609

Learning to manage your time effectively is an important life skill that will continue to benefit you for years to come. Topics covered in this workshop will include prioritizing, goal-setting, motivation, and scheduling. Come sharpen your time management skills to increase your sense of balance and decrease stress!

Stress Management and Procrastination, Tuesday, April 2nd
4:30-5:30pm in WB 609

Are you part of the Procrastination Nation? It’s larger than you may think! Come join us for a workshop where you can learn strategies to beat your procrastination habits and relieve this major source of stress by getting your time management skills on the right track.

Stress Management & Relaxation Exercises I, Thursday, April 11th
4:30-5:30pm in WB 609

Finding time to unwind isn't always easy. Good news is, the remedy could be just a few breaths away! Come learn about how to use breathing exercises to manage your stress and balance your mood. You will learn easy-to-follow steps for simple breathing exercises through experiential activities and some discussion. Attention will also be paid to the signs of stress, so you know when to use breathing exercises to relax or prevent stress from building.

Stress Management & Relaxation Exercises II, Thursday, April 18th
4:30-5:30pm in WB 609

Increase your awareness of the signs of stress in yourself and in others and learn ways to cope. In this workshop we will take participants through a Progressive Muscle Relation Exercise and practice firsthand how to reduce your stress in the moment.

Stress Management and Test Anxiety, Monday, April 22nd
4:30-5:30pm in WB 609

This time of year, we may be feeling stressed for a specific reason:  Anxiety about final exams and projects!   Come to this experiential workshop to learn about different types of anxiety, specific tools to combat anxiety, and a variety of self-care and stress management techniques that will help get you through the next few weeks.

Love Every BODY Week on Feb 19
Stop by the Counseling Center's "Love Every BODY Week" on Tuesday Feb. 19 in WB Cafeteria from 12:00-2:00 p.m., to learn tips on healthy eating and body image. We are also hosting Insight Psychological Center who will be presenting a workshop on "Healthy Eating Habits" from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in WB 609 on Tuesday Feb. 19.

Messages of Hope: Suicide Prevention Day

Come out and help us to raise awareness and prevention of suicide! Write your message of hope on one of our “I live for” posters to be displayed in the Counseling Center and talk with one of the Counseling Center staff members about Suicide Awareness.

"Who Do You Want to be at RU?" - How to Thrive at RU Series by the Counseling Center

The college experience will shape who you are today and who you will be tomorrow. With many years to devote towards your intellectual, physical, and social pursuits, this workshop is designed to help you get the most out of it! The objective is to provide you with direction so you can become the person you want to be. We will do that by exploring your values and goals through experiential and interactive activities. 

Check Up from the Neck Up: Mental Health Screening Day

Stop by to address your mood or other mental-health related concerns, gain some useful information about how to help friends and family, and win prizes with Mental Health Jeopardy!

Balancing Your Time at RU

It is important to find ways to balance your time to get the most out of your college experience. With classes, student activities, residence life, and social events, there is a lot to juggle. Come learn how to manage your time and achieve balance in your time at Roosevelt!

Stress Management and Relaxation Training
Thursdays, starting September 27th

S.M.A.R.T. is a series of four group sessions that will give you knowledge and stress management skills to improve your success in your personal life, college career, and beyond! Before the first group meeting, a brief interview session is required. Call 312-341-3548 if interested! Sessions begin Thursday September 27th.

Manage Stress Before It Manages You

Stress is a normal part of life, yet it does not have to take over your life. Join Dr. Charles Berry in a one hour stress management workshop that will help you thrive at RU. In this workshop, students will learn the underpinnings of stress management, how stress manifests in each of us, and the impact of chronic stress on mental and physical health. You will be introduced to several ways of coping with stress and practice a relaxation exercise.  R U ready to de-stress and relax?

RU Aware: Mental Health Awareness Week

Mood Matters
October 9th, 12-2 PM, Wabash Lobby

Your mood affects a variety of aspects in your daily life. Stop by the Counseling Center’s table to hear more about how to better cope with emotions, collect some free goodies, and participate in a fun activity about your mood!

Mental Health Jeopardy
October 10th, 3-5 PM, Fainman Lounge

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Week, the Counseling Center will be hosting Mental Health Jeopardy! Stop by the Fainman Lounge to answer a few questions, talk about Mental Health issues and win some free goodies!

Stress LESS
October 11th, 12-2 PM, Roosevelt Dining Center 

College students are commonly affected by stress and anxiety in combination with many other external factors in their lives. Yet, stress does not have to become a debilitating factor. Come join the Counseling Center at their table in the Roosevelt Dining Center to learn more about stress and anxiety, and discover what resources the Counseling Center has to offer for you.

 Alcohol Awareness Week: What RU Drinking?
