Clinical Hours and Field Placements for Bilingual/ESL

Clinical hours for any course in the Bilingual/ESL sequence must be completed during the semester in which the course is offered, but can be begun and/or completed outside the 7-week span of the class meetings.

Clinical hours must be completed in bilingual or ESL K-12 settings with the exception of hours associated with EDUC 370/470: Cross-Cultural Studies for Teaching Limited English Proficient Students, which may be completed in any cross-cultural setting approved by the course instructor.

Any additional hours needed to reach the 100-hour total (beyond those associated with coursework) may be completed at any point during the sequence of six courses.

Clinical hours not associated with specific coursework must still be completed in K-12 bilingual or ESL settings and students must secure their own placements. Prior to beginning these placements, students must request site approval and any necessary paperwork by e-mailing Laura Lag, Assistant Dean, Student Services (llag@roosevelt.edu) indicating the placement site, the classroom setting, and the number of hours.

Verification of hours forms for self-placements should be submitted to Dr. Tammy Oberg De La Garza:
