Special Education Concentration

Students enrolled in the MA in Teaching and Learning Program may obtain deeper knowledge about how to teach exceptional learners through enrollment in an 18 credit hour concentration in Special Education.  An LBSI Approval may be earned through the completion of all or part of this concentration.

The three courses (11 credit hours) required to earn the LBSI approval are required for this concentration.  These courses are offered in Chicago and Schaumburg.  See the LBSI Approval website for more information.

An additional special education course (4 credit hours) should be chosen from the methods courses that apply toward the LBSI approval

The capstone course for this concentration is TLED 480, Inquiry in the Classroom.  It is offered online during the summer semester.
