Lysistrata Jones, a critically acclaimed musical comedy by Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn about cheerleaders who withhold sex from their boyfriends on the basketball team until the team ends its losing streak, will make its Midwest premiere Nov. 15-18 at Roosevelt.

Loosely based on Aristophanes’ ancient Greek antiwar comedy, the pop musical about “faith, hoops and chastity” made its debut on Broadway in 2011. Roosevelt’s Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) is the first to license the show, which will be staged by award-winning guest director and former Broadway actor Kurt Johns. Training camps for the show are being led weekly by Roosevelt Lakers Head Basketball Coach Joe Griffin, his team of assistant coaches, as well as Lakers players.
