Working in These Hard Times: The Union Movement and the 99%

Event Date: 11/13/2012
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Location: AUD Congress Lounge, 2nd Floor

In honor of the 100th year of Studs Terkel’s birth, join the Center for New Deal Studies for a lively public forum on the role of unions in the age of Occupy.

Roberta Lynch, the dynamic deputy director of AFSCME Council 31 and co-author of Rusted Dreams: Hard Times in a Steel Community, will offer remarks on the contemporary relationship of the labor movement to broad social movements such as Occupy. Commenting on Lynch’s talk will be a distinguished panel: Jeff Edwards, Associate Professor of Political Science; David Moberg, senior editor of In These Times; and Tom Alter, a member of Occupy Chicago’s Labor Working Group. A reception will follow the forum.

This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. RSVP by November 9th to hardtimes@roosevelt.edu.
