College of Pharmacy recognizes Roosevelt alumnus Norman Frankel during American Pharmacists and Pharmacy Educator Month

In recognition of American Pharmacists and Pharmacy Educator Month, the College of Pharmacy held its first annual Research Symposium on Oct. 9 and honored Dr. Norman Frankel, president of Scientific Industrial Supply Company.

Frankel is pictured above, center, receiving an award for his contributions to Roosevelt's College of Pharmacy, from Professor Moji Adeyeye (left), chair of the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, and George MacKinnon III, dean of the College of Pharmacy.

Frankel is an alumnus of Roosevelt University and a long-time Trustee of the University.  He has contributed a significant amount of laboratory equipment to the University, most recently to the College of Pharmacy.

COPFrankelstudents The Symposium served as an occasion for PharmD candidates in the class of 2014 to showcase their summer research projects, which were part of an elective course at the College that they participated in last summer.  Many students also took the opportunity to highlight how they had used equipment donated by  Frankel. Dean George MacKinnon III presented the opening remarks, while Dr. Moji Adeyeye, chair of the Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, directed the program.  In closing, the honoree of the day, Dr. Frankel, remarked that the event was an outstanding opportunity for students to present the findings of their summer research to a community of their peers and faculty.  He stated that it is a reflection of the quality of the College of Pharmacy program.
