RA Packing Tip!  Why pack and unpack items that can be purchased here in Chicago? Instead, take only what you cannot buy here and wait until you arrive to see what you really need. We have a number of stores within walking distance that include Walgreens, Target, Jewel Osco (grocery), Macy's, Old Navy, Nordstrom Outlet, Sears, and TJ Maxx!

Essentials

  • Alarm clock
  • Iron, ironing board and clothes hangers
  • Laundry detergent and laundry basket or bag
  • Linens/blankets and pillows (beds use extra long twin sheets)
  • Toiletries and any needed pharmaceutical supplies
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Checkbook, supply of checks or travelers checks
  • Wastebasket
  • Microfridge

  • Room decorations to make your place feel like home

  • Candles and incense
  • Animals, pets
  • Waterbed
  • Open coil cooking appliances
  • Electric blanket

  • Fireworks, firearms, explosives, or other weapons, replicas or facsimiles
  • Halogen lamp

Bedroom:

  • Extra long twin bed
  • Wardrobe Closet including two drawers
  • Desk
  • Desk chair

Remember, your room/suite is to be shared with another person and their belongings. Please pack accordingly. Talk with your future roommate and decide which items you will be bringing. Remember these are suggestions, your personal needs and interests will ultimately dictate what you bring
