Here are some resources to assist you with achieving that goal:

  • Be proactive. Stave off disease and other health issues early on. Get preventive care guideline recommendations for you and your family at, the UnitedHealthcare Preventive Care website.
  • Educate yourself and your family. When it comes to your health and the health of your family, it helps to have dependable resources for information and support. Refer to for a schedule of free seminars offered through 2013.
  • Choose alternatives to the costly emergency room visit. Reserve the ER for very serious, critical concerns. Click here to learn about your options for receiving care from a convenient care clinic or Urgent care center. 
  • Manage smart. Managing your medical claims can be confusing and cumbersome. But health insurance companies have online portals, such as UnitedHealthcare’s myclaims manager tool, to help you better understand and track your health care expenses.  
  • Check out your member discounts. As a plan participant you may be eligible for additional discounts with select vendors. For example, UnitedHealthcare members are eligible for services through the UnitedHealth Allies discount program. For info visit
  • Take advantage of employee assistance programs. EAPs offer professional, confidential counseling services to help address any life issues you may be facing. This service, staffed by experienced professional clinicians, is available 24/7 to you and members of your family at no cost, by calling a toll-free phone line.   • There’s an app for that! Take advantage of mobile apps, including UnitedHealthcare’s Health4me app, that enable you to access resources and manage claims on the go.
