The Illinois State Board of Education maintains an electronic file of information on each Illinois certificate holder. This file is known as the Online Teacher Information Service or OTIS.

Information on OTIS may be accessed through two portals.

The Educator Private Login Portal allows teachers to confirm their credentials, register and renew their certificates, apply for new certificates, request duplicates, request additional endorsements, monitor pending applications, and confirm the positions for which they are "highly qualified" in relation to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). OTIS also provides the convenience of electronic submission and credit card payments for certification applications.

The Administrator Portal allows district administrators to easily access educator credentials for purposes of identifying, managing and evaluating teacher placements, including confirmation of certification and subject assignments for which teachers are "highly qualified" in relation to NCLB.

Certification candidates are encouraged to visit the OTIS information site
and to establish a personal OTIS account. There is no charge for this service.
