Pre-Employment Software Testing Through a collaborative effort between OPEIU Local 391 and the Roosevelt University Office of Human Resources, we have created new minimum requirements for clerical union staff at each grade level. These minimum requirements will be used in both job postings and job descriptions. Beginning February 1, 2007, all candidates for clerical union positions must demonstrate competency on a variety of Microsoft Office software products prior to extending an offer of employment. The process for internal candidates is different than the process for external candidates. Minimum Requirements per Grade Level The testing schedule for internal candidates will be every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Auditorium Building. Schaumburg Campus testing will be done on an as-needed basis. To receive a practice user ID or to schedule an appointment for proctored testing, please contact Sabrina Elms at X2306. Beginning February 1, 2007, all clerical union employees must meet minimum requirements and have successfully demonstrated competence in computer technology minimums prior to changes in position via upgrade of current position or voluntary transfer. The Office of Human Resources will submit the resumes of internal candidates for new positions only if they have successfully demonstrated their computer skills in each of the Microsoft programs by completing the necessary assessments with 90% accuracy in a proctored setting. Current clerical union employees will not be required to demonstrate the computer technology competencies to remain employed in the positions they hold as of February 1, 2007. However, all clerical union employees must meet minimum requirements and have successfully demonstrated competence in computer technology minimums prior to changes in position via upgrade of current position or voluntary transfer. Grace Period: For the first quarter of the program (February 1 through April 30, 2007), we will submit clerical union resumes if they meet all minimum requirements but have not yet demonstrated competency in the required computer programs. If the employee is a finalist candidate for the position, he or she will then have one week from the date of the offer to test before we can extend an offer. After May 1, 2007, we will not submit resumes of current clerical staff unless they have tested in a proctored setting and met the appropriate minimum computer competencies. Beginning February 1, 2007, external applicants for clerical union positions will have one week to pass the minimum technology requirements in a proctored setting before the University can extend an offer of employment. If you have questions or would like to schedule a proctored test date, please call Sabrina Elms at 312-341-2306. |
