Roosevelt Parents Day 2009
Parents Day 2009 is Saturday, October 17 in the Auditorium Building. The schedule of events is: 9-11 a.m. Parent Day Registration Lobby of the Auditorium Building, 430 S. Michigan Ave. 9-10 a.m. Breakfast & University Welcome Begin your day with continental breakfast and conversations with faculty and staff. A welcome from Roosevelt President Charles Middleton will begin around 9:30 a.m. 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Roosevelt University Bookstore Open Show your Parent Day nametag and receive 10% Roosevelt insignia items! 10-10:45 a.m. & 11-11:45 a.m. Parent Interest Sessions Roosevelt faculty and staff will share insights to help you support your student and learn more about the university. Session topics include:
12 p.m. Lunch on Your Own Looking for suggestions? Metromix is a great web resource for dining options in the city: Chicago.metromix.com Optional activities: 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. The Joffrey Ballet Presents Othello in the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University This is the Joffrey’s premiere of Lar Lubovitch’s full-length, three-act ballet. Chicago-born Lubovitch brings his rhapsodic interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic tale of passion, jealousy, ambition and betrayal. Lubovitch’s compelling synthesis of classical and modern movement is heightened by a powerful score by Academy Award winner Elliot Goldenthal. To purchase tickets to either show, call the Auditorium Theatre box office at 800-982-ARTS (2787). Be sure to use the code PARENT when purchasing your tickets as you may be eligible to receive a 10% discount off your ticket based on seating locations. 7:30 p.m. Comedy Sportz Improv Show Join SPEED Chicago, the student program board, for an evening of laughter. Comedy Sportz is a show you won’t want to miss and audience participation is guaranteed. The show is free and brought to you by the SPEED Board as a thank you to RU parents. Students are welcome to participate in Parent Day events, but information presented in the interest sessions will be focused on parents and primary support providers.
