Chair Biology, Physical Science, and Health Sciences
About Me
I joined the Roosevelt faculty in 2004 and currently serve as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Biological, Physical and Health Sciences. I have the honor of working with talented faculty colleagues, undergraduate students and graduate students in our programs in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Biomedical Science.
My teaching responsibilities include courses in cell biology, research methods, fermentation science, and experimental biochemistry. In the laboratory, my research students and I study yeast cell physiology and responses to environmental stress. Along with students and collaborators, I have also presented numerous talks and conference papers on STEM education.
I have been involved with the SENCER project, which promotes the incorporation of civic learning and practice into science education, since 2005. I was recently named an Ambassador of this organization and have served as co-director of the SENCER Center of Innovation-Midwest (housed at Roosevelt) since 2013.
