The Collaborative Piano Program prepares students for a collaborative career with emphasis in vocal or instrumental specialization, depending on the individual’s interest. The vocal specialization engenders in-depth comprehension of the linguistic underpinnings of art song literature within an immersive performance environment. The instrumental specialization’s focus is the chamber music and instrumental sonata repertory.
Our world-renowned collaborative piano faculty has vast international performing careers working with a large range of distinguished singers and instrumentalists, and they offer the highest quality of teaching. This Collaborative Piano Program offers students two options: a Vocal Specialization and an Instrumental Specialization. In addition to rigorous training alongside their collaborative partners, our students are given ample opportunities to perform on campus as well as within Chicago's rich and vibrant musical scene. The networking possibilities are endless, and our collaborative pianists will be valued members of our musical community.
Diverse skillsets are necessary for a modern collaborative pianist; this will be gained through instruction as well as rehearsal/performance experience in a multitude of settings.
