About Me
Ashley Ver Beek is a research coordinator at Roosevelt University’s Policy Research Collaborative (PRC). She is a writer with a background in facilitation and journalistic research methods. Her research with the PRC focuses on food chain workers’ rights and livelihood in Chicagoland, interviewing workers about their experiences in the workplace and what protections look like on their own terms. Her previous research has explored school pushout, extractive industries, religion, and gendered & state violence and resistance, including her thesis,“Embodied Resistance: Indigenous Women Contest State Gender Violence in Ecuador leading up to the Paro Nacional of October 2019.” She holds her BA in Critical Ethnic Studies and Political Science from Kalamazoo College.
