Our latest academic success story is accounting student Brandy Norman, who has seized all the opportunities that Roosevelt provides. Her journey at Roosevelt first began seven years ago, initially as a finance major in the Heller College of Business. As a mother of three daughters with 20 years of experiences as a successful legal assistant, Brandy was initially unable to complete her degree, but her thirst for knowledge and interest in finance never abated. A self-described “numbers person,” Brandy was also fascinated by the stock market. She diligently continued to work as a legal assistant with the dream of one day continuing her education and completing a career change. In the year 2020, Brandy was ready to return to Roosevelt, this time as a management major.
It wasn’t until a particularly engaging accounting class that Brandy realized it was time for another change. Today, Brandy is an accounting major on her way to earning both her BSBA in accounting as well as a master’s through Roosevelt’s accelerated program. Upon graduation, Brandy hopes to work for the SEC and continue to further her passion for engaging with the stock market. Brandy’s journey could be considered non-traditional, but as a bright member of the Roosevelt community, she exemplifies how Roosevelt supports intelligent, passionate and capable students. To any prospective non-traditional students, Brandy has this to say: “Do it. Take advantage of all Roosevelt has to offer. and if you do that, like you there's no doubt that you wouldn't be successful.”
