Aviana Holst

Roosevelt University is proud to announce that Aviana (Ivy) Holst will be the school’s representative for the Lincoln Laureate award. Every year an outstanding senior from each four-year higher education institution in Illinois is honored with this award, which includes a Medallion of Lincoln, a Certificate of Merit and a small stipend that can assist with tuition costs.

Holst is currently earning both a BMA in Cello Performance through the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) and a BA in English through the College of Humanities, Education & Social Sciences (CHESS), and also serves as a University Liaison and active member of the CCPA Student Council. She is thrilled to be honored with the Lincoln Laurate award, and says the following:

“The legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the Lincoln Academy is one of service. It reminds me that no matter my vocation, my ultimate purpose is to serve others. My education and training at Roosevelt has empowered me to serve through music, offering a respite from the weight of everyday life; through education, equipping students with tools to express themselves and communicate effectively; and through advocacy, believing that it is possible to live in a world with less hunger, less war and less inequality, and striving each day so that my words and actions can be a part of this change. I am so honored to receive this award and to continue working every day to uphold Lincoln's legacy.”

Holst and the other Lincoln Laureate honorees will be celebrated during a special ceremony hosted at the David Rubinstein Forum at the University of Chicago on Saturday, October 18 at 2 p.m.
