About Me

Dr. Summer Aebker is an accomplished soprano and voice instructor, dedicated to fostering vocal excellence across genres. She serves as Artist Faculty and Adjunct Faculty at Roosevelt University CCPA, where she teaches voice performance. Dr. Aebker earned her Doctor of Music in Voice Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, studying under renowned teachers Costanza Cuccaro-Penhorwood and Carol Vaness. With a diverse performance background, she has collaborated with prestigious ensembles like the IU New Music Ensemble and performed new works at the Midwest Composers Symposium.

Throughout her career, Dr. Aebker has championed a wide range of vocal styles, including opera, new music, and oratorio. She has portrayed notable roles such as Mrs. Patrick DeRocher in Dead Man Walking and Sardula in The Last Savage, and has been a featured soloist with groups like the Columbus Discovery Ensemble and the Lima Symphony Orchestra. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of versatile voice training, equipping students to succeed in both classical and contemporary genres. Dr. Aebker remains passionate about sharing her expertise through private teaching in Chicago and nationwide.
