Nancy Inkertsiah, Director of Career Services at Roosevelt University, is dedicated to helping students transition from academics to professional success. A Chicago native, Inkertsiah’s passion for higher education began at Northern Illinois University, where she studied Communications and earned a master’s in Education and Adult Higher Education.

Inkertsiah’s journey in education was shaped by her involvement in student organizations like the Campus Activities Board and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Her hands-on experience in academic advising and career services led her to her current role at Roosevelt. She began as Associate Director in 2021 and now leads a team that supports students’ career development. “It’s been an exciting and fast-paced journey,” she says, “and I’m fortunate to work with a dedicated team.”

A central part of Inkertsiah’s work is organizing programs that connect students with employers. These include resume workshops, mock interviews and networking events such as the Etiquette Dinner and Career Fairs. Through these initiatives, students develop professional skills and establish important relationships. Career Services also manages student employment, helping students develop transferable skills that will benefit them after graduation.

Inkertsiah takes pride in the “Women on the Move” program, an annual conference that addresses the unique challenges women face in the workplace, offering discussions on entrepreneurship, workplace dynamics and more. This initiative helps empower students and provides them with a space to learn about navigating career challenges.

Roosevelt’s Career Services also fosters valuable partnerships with major companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Northern Trust and local health organizations such as Northwestern Medicine and Rush University. These partnerships provide students with unique opportunities to network, intern and secure employment after graduation. Career Services also helps students from a variety of backgrounds explore careers across different fields, from business and science to the arts. Programs like Career Tracks give students the chance to meet industry leaders and learn about potential career paths.

Looking ahead, Inkertsiah is excited to celebrate student employees during Student Employee Week in April. “Student employees make everything happen here,” she says, emphasizing the importance of recognizing their hard work and contributions to the university. Career Services plans to honor these essential team members through workshops and fun activities.

As the new semester begins, Inkertsiah encourages all students to take full advantage of Career Services, whether they’re just starting their college journey or preparing to graduate. “We want to help you explore your options and prepare for what comes next,” she says, urging students to reach out early.

Students are encouraged to visit the Career Services office on the third floor of the Wabash Building (Room 324) to learn about the many services available to help them succeed during their time at Roosevelt and beyond.
